Achievement@STUST

During the past decade, STUST has been credited with a list of remarkable achievements. The following is a select list of some of its major milestones:
  • STUST is one of six technology universities, and the only private one, whose proposed project, (A New Paradigm for Technology Universities) was approved by the MOE in early 2012 to enhance the practical performance of technology universities. The fund from the MOE for 2012-2015 was $75 million NTD ($2.5 million USD) annually.
  • In the last nationwide evaluation conducted by the MOE in 2009, STUST shared first place with National Taipei University of Technology among all technical and vocational universities.
  • Among dozens of public and private colleges of technology, STUST was the first college to be approved by the MOE to upgrade as a university in 1999. The first -the best.
  • The entrance examination score for STUST freshmen ranks top among private universities (In Taiwan, in place of applying to the schools you prefer, most freshmen have to take the entrance examination. Public universities with their lucrative tuition and resources are a favored choice among students).
  • The MOE awarded STUST the highest grant among all private technical and vocational universities in Taiwan in recent years. The amount for 2012 reaches as high as around $74.7 million NTD.
  • STUST was granted $170 million NTD ($5.8 million USD) to execute the Teaching and Learning Excellence Project for 2011 and 2012. The total grant of $487million NTD ($16.5 million USD) for 2006-2012 is the highest among all private technical and vocational universities.
  • Cheers Magazine (a well-known human resource magazine in Taiwan) announced that STUST is one of the yearly top ten technical and vocational universities favored by enterprises during the period of 2009-2012.
  • In July 2011, based on Webometrics Rankings of World Universities conducted by the Laboratorio de Internet of Centre for Scientific Information and Documentation in Spain, STUST was ranked 675th, which is the best performance among all Taiwanese technical and vocational universities.
  • Based on our excellent academic performance in 2009, STUST was the first technical university to be authorized by the MOE to review teachers’ promotion applications by internal procedure. This is usually conducted through the MOE.
